Job Description:
Godwin Assists in Miners' Rescue
Early Thursday morning, July 25, Godwin Pumps went into action to assist in the rescue mission at Quecreek Mine, 55 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, PA. Nine miners were trapped after breaching the wall of a flooded and abandoned adjacent mine, releasing more than 50 million gallons of water into the shaft where they were working. Within hours, Godwin had three employees, seven Dri-Prime pumps and the necessary hose and pipe on site to begin pumping from the flooded mine shaft. After 77 hours of pumping and driling, all nine miners were pulled from the 240-foot deep shaft in a dramatic rescue. Godwin met with the Nine Miracle Miners on August 12, 2002. They are pictured here with the HL10M Dri-Prime Pump.
